#16 "Push My Buttons"

#16 Jean Lyon of Cooperstown, NY

“Push My Buttons”

Embellishments & Techniques: Base covering – silks from Goodwill stores – ties, dresses; buttons – mostly antique / old, British and American; jet beaded Victorian braid; machine and hand sewn.

Artist’s Statement: The title came first. Cancer pushes the patients in many directions. This 36DDD bra was not “pretty”. As the covering developed, my gown making experience kept taking the piece into a more elegant era – the buttons are there for their looks, not the intended function – even firemen and sailors!
